I. TITLE: Youth and Worship Pastor
II. PURPOSE:
To produce true worship and worshippers while developing genuine disciples of Jesus by leading, directing, and organizing both the Worship and Youth Ministries at Sozo Church. This role involves coaching and equipping adult and youth leaders to create an environment that reaches individuals with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
III. BACKGROUND:
Sozo is growing. We aim to transform seekers into believers and then raise up believers who follow Jesus and impact the world. This dual-role pastor will serve the Worship Team, the Youth Ministry, our congregation, and the community and be a member of our leadership team.
IV. AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
1. Pastoral Care:
- Lead the celebration gatherings at Sozo with the senior leadership.
- Oversee all Sozo Worship and Youth Ministries, ensuring they serve God and the church.
- Establish, maintain, and grow a biblical worship expression for Sozo celebration gatherings and events.
- Create a spiritual environment conducive to the move of the Holy Spirit in worship services and youth gatherings.
- Develop and mature individual and corporate worshipping hearts for God and discipleship among youth.
2. Youth Ministries:
- Lead weekly youth services, retreats, and large outreach events, and engage in personal relationships to help students grow in their faith.
- Develop and lead Youth Leadership Teams, recruiting and training volunteers to do the work of ministry.
- Provide facilities and resources for a safe and effective ministry to Sozo Church's young people (6th—12th grade).
- Oversee the spiritual and general activities of the youth ministry, including weekly gatherings and discipleship methods.
- Coordinate all communication with parents, students, and volunteers and manage all youth ministry-related budgets, databases, and calendars.
3. Worship Ministries:
- Supervise, develop, and train volunteers, helping them reach their maximum potential through effective leadership, encouragement, and appreciation.
- Schedule and oversee Worship Ministry volunteers and leaders.
- Manage Sanctuary Audio/Video Technology, including maintenance and procurement of equipment and instruments.
- Propose and manage the annual Worship Ministry budget per church policy and guidelines.
- Recruit, select, train, and oversee worship leaders and team members to minister to God, our congregation, and guests.
- Conduct and arrange for learning and training in praise and worship.
4. Leadership Team:
- Serve, support, and enhance the vision, mission, purpose, and impact of Sozo.
- Facilitate congregational learning and training opportunities through classes, workshops, retreats, and seminars.
- Deliver Bible teaching and preaching on Sunday mornings, special services, and other public events as requested by Lead Pastors.
- Develop team member and ministry team skills to improve the quality of Sozo Worship and Youth Ministries.
- Hold ministry team meetings to set team goals, celebrate accomplishments, communicate, plan, and build team relationships.
- Work with Sozo Elders and other ministry leaders to cooperate, collaborate, and coordinate corporate Sozo ministries for the sake of the gospel.
- Represent Sozo at multi-church functions, city gatherings, and other events involving the body of Christ.
- May accompany Sozo-sponsored short-term missions or outreach teams.
5. Other Related Duties:
- Responsible for the safety and security of the church building, equipment, and furnishings during regular office hours, services, and special meetings.
- Assist in maintaining and updating the Sozo website, social media, and other virtual and web-based presentations of Sozo and the gospel, including creating weekly video elements for Sunday gatherings.
- Willing to assist in other ministry areas to advance the mission of Sozo.
V. QUALIFICATIONS:
- Although this position does not include serving as an Elder, the candidate must meet the qualification of an Elder and Deacon as presented in 1 Timothy 3:1-10 and Titus 1:5-9.
- Two years demonstrated success in similar roles with evidence of Bible and Theological training.
- Demonstrated experience in positively caring for others, discipling others into maturity in Jesus, and effectively teaching and preaching God’s word.
- Demonstrated commitment to the Gospel message.
- Must have a demonstrated history of living a victorious life before God, as well as a personal and family life from a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus.
- Committed to a lifestyle of generosity with your time, talent, treasure, and testimony.
- Passionate about evangelism and leading students to evangelistic experiences.
- Strong work ethic, self-motivation, leadership, organizational, and administrative skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Regular and timely attendance in the workplace.
- Familiarity with Mac OS and Apple/Mac-based programs.
- Must pass required personal and criminal background checks.
- Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of information.
- Alignment with the Sozo Church Statement of Faith, the Guiding Principles of Ministry, and the Three Directives of Sozo Church.
